Canadian oil companies are not taxed enough, according to the tax expert Brigitte Alepin, who estimates that the government should seek at least 1% of the industry revenue in additional taxes, which would give the state a billion more.

At the request of the Journal de Montréal, the tax expert Brigitte Alepin and her team analyzed the taxes actually paid by Canadian oil companies and compared them to those paid by the twenty largest companies in the country and SMEs.
